Happy Feet 2 Released

November 18 has rolled around in the States and with it came the release of Happy Feet 2. Working at Dr D on the film, I was hired as a technical animator. Along with my tech roles and promoted character animation, I was granted the opportunity to animate hero character shots within the film.

The first batch of reviews have come out and from what I've read, have proven to be quite favourable to this sequel. The general consensus seems to point to the Krill characters Will and Bill (voiced by Brad Pitt and Matt Damon) steal the show. The songs have also been well received so long as you're a fan of the genre (and lets be honest, you know you're in for some music when you purchase your ticket).

It's also great to see the visuals and the animation receive praise for its progression from the first film. A lot of my friends worked hard to produce their best work and to see the hours we put in being appreciated is extremely humbling.

Of course there's always the other side of the coin with its fair share of reviews who don't quite think it stacks up to the first one. Even with a more negative review however it's quite clear that regardless how you feel about the story, characters or genre, it's undeniably a great children's film that will not disappoint those looking for some dancing and singing fun from the appealing cast of Happy Feet.

I've listed some links to review below:

I've had an amazing time at Dr D Studios and have learned so much while seeing this film through production. I look forward to when it hits Australian shores so I can re-visit the world of Happy Feet while simultaneously reflecting on the great time I had in studio.
